About Us

    Don's Leather Shop has been at the same location in Ellensburg, Washington for 40 years! It started in 1968 with Don Bacon making mostly custom leather goods, (reins, breast collars, saddle bags, belts etc.) and doing repairs. This was nothing new for him, he sold his first hand-tooled belt in 1947. He and his parents had also run a western store in the 1950's. As demand grew, Don began making these same items for stock so that customers would not have to wait to get the things they needed. Don's saddle making and other leather work is a product of years of repairing leather items which has taught him what works and what does not. Don has taught his sons Andy and Frank the trade and made them partners in the business. They have both worked full time in the store since 1996. It has grown to be a complete western store, including the items that started it, along with quality items from leading companies for the horse or rider.

    We are a family operated business that takes pride in our work and the items we sell. We do our best to have or get the things you need when you need them, and we are always there for you after the sale if you need adjustments, alterations etc.
